Both of these dips are quite versatile in how they can be presented. The simplest way to serve either is to place it in a chilled decorative serving bowl surrounded by tasty dippers like vegetables and crackers.
However, for hosts and hostesses who are feeling inspired, these tuna recipes can also be used as a spread on different sorts of bread to make pretty finger sandwiches. Spicy Mexican Tuna Dip
These ingredients will make about 1 1/2 cups of dip:
- 2 cans (5 oz.) tuna, packed in water
- 1/2 cup light mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup onion, very finely chopped or shredded
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 – 3/4 cup medium salsa
- crushed red pepper
Directions:
- Drain cans of tuna and then mash meat with a fork and set aside.
- In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, onion, lemon juice and the medium salsa
- Stir in the tuna, and mix all together well
- Place tuna dip in a serving bowl. Cover and chill the dip for at least 2 hours for the flavors to marry.
- When it is ready to serve, sprinkle with crushed red pepper for garnish.
** This dip is great served with corn or tortilla chips. Try serving with some sliced vegetables such as sliced zucchini, mushroom, cherry tomotoes, and celery.
Curried Tuna Dip
These ingredients will make about 1 1/2 cups dip:
- 2 cans (5 oz.) tuna, canned in water
- 3 oz light cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup light mayonnaise
- 2 tsp curry
- chopped green onions
Directions:
- Open the cans of tuna and drain.
- Place tuna in a medium-size mixing bowl.
- Combine the softened cream cheese in with the tuna and mix well
- Mix in the mayonnaise, green onions and the curry
- Cover the tuna mixture and place in the refrigertor to chill for at least 2 hours before serving
- When ready to serve, place into a serving bowl and top with chopped green onions for garnish
**This tuna dip is great served with different types of bread and crispy crackers. Also, try it with sliced vegetables like celery and cherry tomatoes.
